Elva's purebred BFL ewe lambs
Elva is a two year old and these are her first lambs. She's a good mom. Little sister only weighed 6 lbs at birth and big sister was about 10 pounds - so quite a difference. They are almost always curled up together, if they aren't with mom. Elvas Ewe lambs

March 2, 2008 Update
Well, I haven't done very well with my lamb updates. Here's a picture of Moriah who had way too many lambs this year. I thought she was going to have quads and unfortunately she had five lambs, which was just too much for her body, so this will be her last lambing. When she passed her water bag, I checked the first lamb's position and it was coming with one leg back. David wasn't home so I had to get my mom to come out to the barn to hold Moriah's head while I repositioned the lambs and pulled them. This was mom's first lambing experience - she did quite well for an 80 year old woman. Each lamb seemed to require some repositioning. The first two were alive but when I pulled the third lamb - the only ewe - she had already expired. After pulling four lambs and helping them each nurse a bit, we decided to leave mom and lambs in the sunshine and get a quick bite of lunch. Much to our amazement when we went back out there was another big lamb which Moriah had delivered all by herself - alive and healthy. Three of the lambs have survived and here they are with mom who is doing a good job of keeping them all going.
